True Auto Insurance Story:
A 14 year old kid was the passenger in a stolen car accident except he did not know that the car was stolen.
He broke his leg, suffered many othe injuries, he hospitalized for a month.
When his family tried to collect medical benefits from the stolen car's insurance company, Liberty Mutual Insurance Company, under the personal injury protection coverage of the stolen car's insurance policy, the claim was denied.
The New Jersey Supreme Court ruled:
A passenger in a stolen motor vehicle isn't entitled to medical benefits for injuries under an automobile insurance policy even if the person did not know the vehicle was stolen."
Strange but true. See court ruling here: http://www.judiciary.state.nj.us/opinions/sup...
